U13s fourth game of the season was at HOME against Norbury. We had 14 girls to field, so had 3 subs because Norbury wanted to play with 11 players. Unlike always we started very focused from the beginning and maintained this focus through most of the game. We played great as a team today with lots of passing and movement. Our defence was not challenged much during the game but when they were we coped very well with their attacks. Midfield supported the attack very well but especially towards the latter parts of the game did not come back to help defence. Against a better side we will be punished! Attack, what can I say, we were great. Good passing and movement but we need to improve on this because at times we were too close to each other or were in the same area. If we improve on these we will be even better.
In total we had over 26 shots on goal and scored 15 goals from these shots. We also battled hard for every ball which was great to see.
In goal we had Niamh, who did not have to do too much.
Goal scorers: Elena Rink (4x), Alice Alan (3x), Elise Humblet (3x), Emma Whitley (2x), Sophie Hurlstone (1x), Emma Maxwell (1x) and Henrietta Wright (1x).
Things we need to work to make our play even better are:
• Midfield has to come back to help defence. It was better than other games but against a much better side we will get punished.
• Passing. Tighter and more accurate passes.
• Some talking going on but need to talk more.
Player of the day:
Elena Rink was the player of the day for midfield. Worked very hard like many others but also helped out in defence a lot, which put her a head of Elise who had a great performance too. She also is the MVP for the game.
Alice Allan was the player of the day in attack. She worked hard, run into space, passed, assisted and scored.
Charlotte and Nina were the player of the day for defence. When they were asked to perform they did.
